Foreground is founded by me, Sydney Pujol. I am a graphic designer based in Austin, Texas that has worked at a golf course for about two years now.

Before working at the course, I had absolutely no interest in golf, but I got to play for free so eventually I started at the range hitting balls and getting comfortable with the clubs my course had to rent. I found a few friends that I started to play with, and slowly started to love the game!

I noticed the lack of women at the course; out of the hundreds that played every day, I would see maybe 5-15 total women and almost never a full group of 4 girls.

Most of the women I did see were out playing with their boyfriends or husbands, rarely would I see women out there playing just for the fun of it with their own friends like all of the men were.

It started to make me upset, because I wanted other women to be able to develop their love for the game outside of it attached to the men in their lives.

This is how Foreground began, with a goal to provide a safe space for women to come and be introduced to the game for themselves since most courses can be very intimidating and not accommodating to women.
